Edmonton Oilers General Manager Ken Holland turned down a trade offer to acquire the services of the 38-year-old veteran goaltender.
Interesting, isn't it?
The Oilers are currently in the Western Conference Finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and Stuart Skinner is the starter. The 25-year-old goaltender has been shaky at times, but still holds a record of 9 wins, 4 losses, and 1 overtime loss so far in the playoffs. Calvin Pickard has also started 3 games for the Oilers in the current series.
Skinner currently has a save percentage of .887% with a goals against average of 2.71 with the Oilers.
If Jake Allen were to be in goal for the Oilers now, would he have offered better performances than Skinner currently? We will never know, but one thing is certain, Ken Holland trusted Stuart Skinner enough to turn down Kent Hughes' offer.
Now that we know all this and Jake Allen is with the New Jersey Devils, what do you think the value of the former Canadiens goaltender would have been?
Let's remember that Jake Allen was traded to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a conditional draft pick in the 2025 draft.
Jake Allen has a salary of $3.85 million until the end of next season.
