It's now confirmed for Marc-André Fleury, and it's very sad
Marc-André Fleury is truly a role model for past, present, and future generations in the NHL and beyond.
He has had an incredible career, currently ranking second all-time in wins and boasting three Stanley Cup championships. Additionally, Fleury has earned medals at the international level, the Vezina and Jennings trophies, and is known as an amazing person with a contagious smile.
However, all good things must come to an end. Despite his stunning and successful career, Fleury isn't getting any younger, and he will eventually have to retire.
That day is approaching rapidly, as he has confirmed that the 2024-25 season will be his last.
"I'm more certain than last year. It will be the last." - Marc-André Fleury
Recall that the goaltender signed a one-year contract extension in April, much to everyone's delight. If all goes well, we will have the chance to see him one last time at the Bell Centre during the Wild's visit next year.
Fleury intends to savor every moment, and he even has a small quest in mind, although it's not his top priority.
"I'll try to enjoy my last year, have fun, win games," Fleury shared. "I think games played would be something interesting. I could finish second all-time. But it's not a big deal. It's not something I absolutely need to achieve." - Marc-André Fleury
So there it is. Marc-André will play one more season, and that's it. A legend will leave the NHL in a year, and the doors to the Hall of Fame will automatically swing open for him.
