A Former Canadien just Suddenly Announced his Retirement in the Middle of a Podcast
We just learned that a former player of the Montreal Canadiens just announced his retirement.
The 38-year-old veteran, Nate Thompson, suddenly revealed in the middle of a podcast that he was ending his player career in the NHL.
"I will no longer play (hockey in the NHL). I'm retiring." - Nate Thompson
Even the host of the show was completely shocked by this unexpected announcement, as he added this live:
"Wow. Did we just get a breaking news exclusive? Did you just...?"
Thompson agreed, asserting that he hadn't yet made an official announcement and that it was the first time he had mentioned it.
The Canadiens organization has just made a very nice publication to highlight his retirement, after 15 seasons in the NHL.
In addition to being an excellent teammate and an underrated leader, Thompson played 844 games in the Bettman circuit, accumulating a total of 65 goals and 164 points along the way. He spent a season and a half with the Tricolore, between 2018 and 2020.
We wish him the best for the rest of his career!
