William Nylander will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the next season and there are currently numerous rumors about a potential trade involving the #88 of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
William Leblanc has even made a trade proposal on Twitter involving the 27-year-old forward and the Habs that is getting a lot of reaction. The tweet has been seen by over 100,000 people.
Here is the proposed trade in question:
The Leafs would get their hands on an excellent offensive defenseman in Mike Matheson, who amassed 8 goals and 26 assists (34 points) in 48 games last season. Additionally, the Toronto squad would also add a young defenseman in Jordan Harris and a quality prospect in Riley Kidney.
On their end, the Canadiens would acquire a top-line forward in William Nylander and would assuredly add some offensive punch to their attack. The forward is undoubtedly one of the best forwards in the NHL at the moment, who recorded 40 goals and 47 assists (87 points) in 82 matches in 2022-2023.
Of course, it would be very surprising if the Leafs agreed to trade William Nylander to one of their biggest rivals, but it's still interesting to speculate who would benefit most from this trade.
If you were in Kent Hughes's shoes, would you trade Mike Matheson, Jordan Harris, Riley Kidney and a 2nd round pick for William Nylander?
