We are set to see a duel that practically no one expected, between the Knights and, of course, the surprising Florida Panthers.
At first glance, seeing these two teams, one might think that the final would be excellent for boosting the popularity of NHL hockey in the United States, but the reality is quite the opposite.
Some even say it's a catastrophic scenario, largely due to an unfortunate coincidence in Florida.
Indeed, the Panthers are not the only team competing for major honors, as the Miami Heat have also qualified for the grand finale in the NBA.
This is a particularly disappointing realization for Gary Bettman and the NHL, as fans will likely only have eyes for basketball. The Panthers are already in the backseat in this corner of Florida, and this is likely to be even more the case with these two teams playing the final at the same time.
On the other hand, although Vegas never has problems filling its home for games, media attention is not very optimal in this part of the league.
As Charles-Alexis Brisebois from DansLesCoulisses aptly points out, At the moment, Vegas is buzzing with a number of elements. Tom Brady has become a shareholder of the Raiders and the city is working hard to host the Oakland A's in the MLB. Attention may not be at its best for hockey.
Let's just say it would have been the complete opposite if Dallas had been in the final, as Texas is a very lucrative state for sport, and it would have brought visibility to the Texas market, knowing that in addition, Houston is looking to acquire an NHL franchise.
In addition to being quite an unexpected final, it's possibly one of the worst possible scenarios for game ratings.
