A goon with the Canadiens? Reunions for Kent Hughes and a potential future acquisition for the Habs
Now that Xhekaj has competition in the Atlantic Division for the toughest player, Kent Hughes may try to add another forward to his lineup who can provide support to his players.
According to Phylippe Bernard, with Milan Lucic (Boston), Ryan Reaves (Toronto), and Zach McEwen (Ottawa), Arber Xhekaj would greatly benefit from having a player like Mathieu Olivier from the Columbus Blue Jackets by his side, someone who is not afraid to drop the gloves.
Mathieu Olivier and Kent Hughes have had a professional connection in the past. In fact, the general manager was the player's agent before taking up his position with the Montreal organization. Having a good understanding of the 26-year-old player, Hughes may want to bring him to Montreal to allow Arber Xhekaj to reduce the frequency of his fights.
The 6'1" and 217 lbs forward accumulated 5 goals and 10 assists (15 points) in 66 games last season, also racking up 81 penalty minutes.
