Brendan Gallagher quickly became a crowd favorite when he joined the Montreal Canadiens in 2012-2013. Known for his intensity and hard work, the diminutive forward also managed to bring an impressive offensive output.
Indeed, Gally reached the 40-point mark six times over the last ten seasons, scoring more than 30 goals twice.
However, injuries have greatly affected his performance over the past two years. The 31-year-old forward managed only 14 points in 37 games in 2022-2023, and many fans wonder if his career might be in jeopardy.
Marc Bergevin faced significant criticism when he awarded a six-year contract extension worth $39 million to Brendan Gallagher. There's no doubt that this decision will greatly affect Kent Hughes' work in the coming years as there are still four seasons left on the assistant captain's contract.
Given that a contract buyout is not really feasible due to the astronomical amounts the organization would have to pay, the only option would be to trade Brendan Gallagher to another NHL team.
The Twitter account Hockey Night In Montreal suggested a trade proposal involving Brendan Gallagher and the Arizona Coyotes.

TO THE COYOTES:
Brendan Gallagher
3rd round pick
The Coyotes often need to trade for players nearing the end of their careers to reach the salary floor, and Brendan Gallagher could be an interesting option. However, the Canadiens' forward has a no-movement clause in his contract, and it would be quite surprising if he agreed to join a struggling team like the Coyotes.
If you were in Kent Hughes' shoes, would you accept this trade if Bill Armstrong offered it to you?
