In the latest episode of Tony Marinaro's podcast, the famous journalist Aaron Portzline revealed important information about Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Portzline is a specialist in the activities of the Columbus Blue Jackets and has reliable sources within the organization. Last night, he stated that he had strong reasons to believe that when Dubois requested a trade from the Blue Jackets in 2020, he already had a firm intention to join the Montreal Canadiens and hoped that Marc Bergevin would come and get him.

According to Portzline, there is even more...

As a restricted free agent in 2020, Pierre-Luc Dubois had hoped that the Montreal Canadiens would make him an offer sheet, as his rookie contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets had just ended. Portzline strongly believes that Dubois had this ambition to join the Montreal team at the time.

"In my opinion, Dubois was expecting an offer sheet from the Montreal Canadiens in 2020. Dubois believed he was going to leave Columbus (to join Montreal) and that's when the relationship with the Jackets soured," reported Aaron Portzline.

According to Portzline's information, Dubois would have accepted an offer sheet from the Montreal Canadiens without hesitation at the time. This is also why the Columbus Blue Jackets freed up salary cap space by trading some of their defensemen that summer, positioning themselves to match a potential offer sheet from the Habs.

However, as is now known, no offer sheet was ever presented to Dubois by the Montreal Canadiens.
