A major piece of information concerning the Canadiens and Matvei Michkov has just been revealed
While several experts had mentioned that Matvei Michkov would refuse to discuss with certain teams before the draft, Bob McKenzie refuted the rumor by confirming that the Russian phenomenon had several meetings already scheduled in his calendar.
However, everyone was wondering if the Canadiens were among those famous formations that would have the opportunity to speak with the 18-year-old prospect. Fortunately, according to the information reported by TVA Sports, the Tricolore will indeed have the chance to meet him in person before making their selection at the 5th rank.
Needless to say, this interview could have a major impact on Kent Hughes' decision when he takes the stand at the podium of the Bridgestone Arena.
Let us recall that Michkov is considered by several recruiters as the best Russian player since Alexander Ovechkin, having notably amassed 20 points (including 9 goals) in 27 games in the KHL, and that too, at just 18 years old.
The forward is destined for an extremely promising future in the NHL and there is a very high chance that he will still be available at the 5th rank. Will the young man's answers during his interview with the Canadiens' management convince Kent Hughes to select him? We certainly hope so!
