Still without a contract with the season starting in less than two weeks, the Ducks' forward is at the center of many rumors. Some experts specifically think he will be traded soon, as he is far from signing a new agreement with Anaheim.
Back to the question from TSN journalist, Mitch Gallo!
Would you trade, let's say, Kaiden Guhle, Owen Beck, and a first-round pick for the dynamic Trevor Zegras?
Hard to say!
Of course, the idea of acquiring a player of Trevor Zegras's caliber is certainly intriguing for the Montreal Canadiens. The Ducks' forward is brimming with talent and certainly has very promising potential, and he is far from having finished his development. He would be a valuable addition to the Canadiens' offense, and he could potentially reconnect with his good friend Cole Caufield.
However, despite the team's depth at the defenseman position, losing Kaiden Guhle would greatly hurt the Montreal defensive brigade. He already plays a crucial role in Martin St-Louis's lineup, despite being only 21 years old. He will become a true general on the Tricolore's blue line in a few years.
Moreover, we must not forget that a quality prospect like Owen Beck and a first-round pick in the next draft would probably have to be added. Let's just say that the price to pay is starting to be quite expensive for an extremely talented player, yes, but who is often criticized for his attitude.
Selected 9th overall in 2019, the 22-year-old forward has scored 49 goals and 90 assists (139 points) in 180 games since his arrival in the NHL. He set a new personal record last season, reaching the 65-point mark for the first time in his career.
