A totally disgusting situation occurred during the match yesterday with Thatcher Demko
It was the start of the new season for the Vancouver Canucks yesterday, and they started strong with an 8-1 win against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
However, apart from this striking victory, a totally disgusting situation has captured attention regarding the Canucks' goaltender, Thatcher Demko. He suddenly left the game in the third period with only 10 minutes left in the match and did not return afterward.
Many feared a potential injury to the team's number one goalie, but that was not the case. In fact, the real reason is utterly stomach-turning. The coach provided details on the situation.
«Thatcher was fighting off a cold before the game but wanted to play regardless. During the game, he suffered from dehydration and tried to stay on the ice until the end, but he even threw up in his mask. That's when he headed to the infirmary, and we had to replace him with DeSmith.»
Rick Tocchet
Yuck! So, he vomited in his mask, right in the middle of the game. It must have been a terrible feeling and smell.
Given the team's huge lead, it's understandable that he didn't return to play the rest of the game.
