Some manage to find employment in the industry, but for those who still have a passion for the sport and cannot return, other solutions are necessary. This is what Shea Weber, Josh Gorges, Duncan Keith, and Mike Smith, former NHL players, did by coaching their kids' team during the "Osoyoos Desert Classic" spring tournament.
Indeed, the idea is excellent because not only can these former players follow their children's growth and development, but they can also provide advice to young players and help them progress. Of course, the main objective of these four former players is to have fun while sharing their passion for hockey with their kids and young players.
It is indeed interesting to see that young players have idols who belong to a generation other than their fathers'. These young players cited names such as Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, Cale Makar, and Charlie McAvoy, as if they didn't know the players of their parents' generation. This shows how much hockey is a sport in constant evolution and how quickly today's players can become role models for young players.
Moreover, we also learned that Shea Weber has become a coach.
