Alex Killorn in the Canadiens uniform? He made a significant statement regarding the possibility of finishing his career in Montreal
Despite being 33 years old, former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Alex Killorn is currently experiencing some of his best moments since joining the NHL. Indeed, he set a personal record last season, collecting 27 goals and 37 assists (64 points) in 82 games. His strong performances notably earned him a lucrative new contract with the Anaheim Ducks, where he will earn a salary of $6.25 million for the next four seasons.
During an appearance on Chris Nilan's podcast, "The Raw Knuckles Podcast," the veteran made an interesting revelation regarding the Montreal Canadiens. Killorn mentioned that he was a die-hard fan of the Habs during his childhood, proudly wearing the jersey of former Canadiens captain Saku Koivu.
"All my life, I've been a Canadiens fan. I remember wearing a Saku Koivu jersey until I was about 13 years old." - Alex Killorn
Some had hoped to see him sign with the Canadiens this summer, so that the young players in the organization could benefit from his experience. However, the Halifax native confirmed during the podcast that he had not had significant discussions with Kent Hughes during the opening of free agency.
"We didn't really talk to Montreal during free agency, so it wasn't really an idea. But yes, Montreal would be a great place to play." - Alex Killorn
However, he admitted that he would greatly like to finish his career with the Canadiens, as he will be 37 years old when his contract with the Ducks expires. Could Alex Killorn join the Canadiens and become a mentor for the team's youngsters by playing a role on the fourth line?
"If it was to finish my career, play a season there, I think it would be special. It seems like all my former teammates are now in that organization, like Marty [St. Louis], Vinny Lecavalier. Teddy Purcell is part of the scouting team. They have a heck of a team there, so it would be fun." - Alex Killorn
