An incredibly sad statement about the Coyotes and their fans
As you are aware, the Canadiens will be playing against the Coyotes in their neighborhood arena on Thursday night. The team that Gary Bettman insists on not relocating, at the expense of other NHL clubs, has been shown the door by the local residents, and yet no decision has been made, with the commissioner claiming there is hope.
It's quite perplexing, but one can assume that there must be a reason driving Bettman's stance. There must be some level of enthusiasm for the NHL to resist relocating the team.
Anthony Martineau, who covers the Canadiens daily for TVA Sports, is currently in Tempe and made a very sad observation about the situation while taking an Uber from his hotel to the arena:
"In an Uber in the heart of Tempe, I asked my driver to take me to Mullett Arena, just 10 minutes from my hotel.
This is the home of the NHL team in HIS city. HIS area.
'The what? What is that?'
I had to show him a photo.
Hockey town."
- Anthony Martineau
When even Uber drivers are not familiar with the location, it's a sign that not many people must know about it or care much about it. It's sad, but it brings us back to Bettman, and we really don't understand his reasoning.
It's so illogical that it's as if someone has compromising information about him and is threatening to reveal everything if he relocates the team.
Let's hope the right decision will be made quickly for the players and the organization, as this situation cannot continue indefinitely.
