Some good news has surfaced in the last few hours, concerning notably Jeff Gorton, the Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Montreal Canadiens.

Like Kent Hughes' son, Jack Hughes, who will join the University of Boston's team in the NCAA this season, we have just learned that Jack Gorton, Jeff Gorton's son, will do the same.

This means that the sons of the two leaders of the habs will play for the same team as one of the club's top prospects, the promising Lane Hutson.

Gorton and Hughes are therefore likely to keep a very close eye on the development of the young defenseman of the organization, who could very well graduate to professional hockey at the end of the next university campaign.

We should also add in passing that if the Canadiens find themselves in the bottom third of the league again at the end of the 2023-2024 season, a certain Macklin Celebrini will also be part of the BU Terriers team. He is tipped to be a top-3 pick in the next NHL draft.

Aged 19, Jack Hughes was a 2nd round pick (51st overall) of the Los Angeles Kings in 2022. He recorded a tally of five goals and 16 points in 32 games with Northeastern University last year.

Aged 21, Jack Gorton has never been drafted. Last season, he finished his season with the Victoria Grizzlies in the BCHL, collecting 17 goals and 45 points in 54 games.
