Currently in the semi-finals of the World Championship, the Canadian team has been experiencing rollercoaster performances since the beginning of the tournament.
The only player presenting consistent and exceptional performance was Samuel Montembeault.
On the eve of this important faceoff against Latvia, the head coach of the team, André Tourigny, made a major statement concerning the Montreal Canadiens' goalie.
"Sam Montembeault has made many important saves for us. He was our best player tonight, and when your goalie plays that well, it's a good recipe for winning games." - André Tourigny
The Arizona Coyotes' coach even adds this about the Quebecer:
"Sam hasn't been good, he's been excellent since the start of the tournament." - André Tourigny
It's worth mentioning that in five games since the start of the world championship, Monty has only conceded six goals, giving him an astonishing save percentage of .949.
Regarding the performance of the Canadiens' goaltender, Montreal's former goalie coach, Stéphane Waite, indeed mentioned he would not hesitate to give Montembeault a lucrative contract right now.
