Avalanche Head Coach Pours Cold Water on Jonathan Drouin
The arrival of Jonathan Drouin in Colorado raised high expectations about the possibility of seeing the former Canadiens forward form a duo with his former teammate and good friend, Nathan MacKinnon. They had been simply formidable during their time with the Halifax Mooseheads in the QMJHL.
To this end, from the start of training camp, the Quebec native had the opportunity to complete a line alongside Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen. There's no doubt that the three players could form an electrifying line if they manage to develop good chemistry.
However, it's important to note that nothing is guaranteed for Jonathan Drouin. Coach Jared Bednar clearly stated that his place in the lineup would depend on his performance on the ice, and he would have to earn his spot on the team's top line.
"Bednar clarifies that the reunion of Drouin and MacKinnon isn't set in stone. It's to be determined, it's to be earned." - Jared Bednar
This means that the Sainte-Agathe native will have to quickly find his offensive touch if he wants to remain on the first line. However, the Avalanche head coach did confirm that he would play an important role on the team.
"Even if he's not with Nate, Drouin can help the team. I really liked the start of his camp. He's a guy I think we can lean on." - Evan Rawal
One thing's for sure, we are eager to see if Drouin will be able to revive his career with his new team!
