The Habs are already facing a shortage of forwards, and there aren't many options left in Laval. Emil Heineman and Lias Andersson are the most likely candidates for a call-up, but it's understood that they may not be saviors.
Christian Dvorak got injured against the Panthers, and Josh Anderson appeared to be in bad shape when he left the game against the Stars. His knee bent in the wrong direction, and I expect a lengthy absence, at least several weeks.
Currently, there are 10 forwards with the Canadiens, including two players who ideally should be in Laval Joel Armia and Mitchell Stephens.
Kent Hughes will have crucial decisions to make. He can recall two forwards from the Rocket or make a trade to acquire a forward. With surplus goaltenders and defensemen, Hughes certainly has the means to bolster his team.
I personally believe a trade is necessary at this point. The Canadiens will have four AHL-caliber forwards for Thursday night's game, and if there's another injury, it will be even more catastrophic. The general manager needs to do something, and he shouldn't wait.
