Big surprise in NHL waivers: Rumors seem to be increasingly confirming for the former Habs forward
We reported yesterday that hometown forward Jean-Sébastien Dea was finding his time in the AHL increasingly mentally challenging. He had mentioned, particularly during the podcast "Sans restriction," that he would like an opportunity to play in Switzerland this season.
A few days after this surprising statement, the Arizona Coyotes have placed the forward on waivers with the intention of terminating his contract.
Wow! Such a quick turn of events that was not expected for the 29-year-old forward who has spent several years in the American Hockey League.
This means that Jean-Sébastien Dea will become an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any NHL team. Will the 29-year-old center wish to try his luck with a new team in the hopes of establishing himself full-time in the NHL, or will he decide to move to Europe?
One thing is for sure, it will take a few days to get a definitive answer in this matter. However, judging by his statements, it seems likely that his North American journey is coming to an end, and he will probably be playing in Europe next season.
