In addition to his top-notch field hockey skills, the six-foot-four, 238-pound defenseman has quickly become a fixture at the Bell Centre thanks to his personality, distinctive appearance and remarkable ability to fight on the ice.
According to Georges Laraque, who spoke on BPM Sports, Arber Xhekaj would be the most sought-after player on the Habs team, for various reasons.
Chantal Machabée would have personally informed that Xhekaj is currently the player who receives the most interview requests, surpassing even Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki, the captain. As well, it would appear that Arber Xhekaj is the top salesman among all the players on the Tricolore team at the store, including Caufield and Suzuki.
Is it conceivable that other NHL general managers are actively looking for Xhekaj, considering him the most coveted player?
It's a possibility to consider, especially considering that despite his popularity, Xhekaj may not have untouchable status in the eyes of Kent Hughes. After all, it's unlikely that GMs would call Hughes to ask about untouchable players like Cole Caufield or Nick Suzuki, who are clearly undesirable on the market.
This does not necessarily mean that Arber Xhekaj will be traded in the near future. However, it wouldn't be surprising if Kent Hughes received offers for a player with a unique style of play like Xhekaj's, if that is the case.
