While on the Cam & Strick podcast, the Montreal Canadiens defenseman made the statement of the year regarding his poor performance this season.

He put it into context by saying that his wife received messages on social media mentioning how bad he was.

"My wife has received messages on social media that said, 'your husband is just too bad.' You don't think we already know that? I've been making the f*cking league minimum salary for ten years. You don't think we know I'm bad?"

- Chris Wideman

Wow! Let's just say I was expecting anything but such a response, as the veteran defenseman puts himself down.

With a touch of humor, Wideman clearly expresses that he knows his level of play was far from NHL caliber this season, and he doesn't seem at all bothered by the fact that he was surpassed by several young players in the organization's defensive lineup.

Now 33 years old, it is more than likely that the Canadiens' number 6 will play his final season in the league next year, as he serves the last year of his contract with the club.
