There has just been a new major last-minute development concerning the Russian prodigy who has been making a lot of noise since the draft lottery, Matvei Michkov.
We have just learned, thanks to his agent Sergei Fedotov, that Michkov will be present in person at the draft to be held in Nashville next June.
"Sergei Fedotov, who represents the interests of SKA forward Matvei Michkov, has announced that Matvei will be present at the 2023 NHL Draft.
The agent also adds, however, that it is important for Michkov to take the St. Petersburg team to heart and establish himself before anything else."

Wow! This is huge news, as the Russian forward's presence is extremely reassuring for the organizations that will have the chance to talk to him when he is drafted.
For a team like the Montreal Canadiens, who may have to decide on his case with their 5th pick, it could mean a lot to have the opportunity to talk to him and discuss with his agent about the next steps for him.
Moreover, the fact that he is present at the draft clearly indicates his intention to play in the NHL as soon as he gets the chance. However, he will first have to focus on establishing himself with the SKA before making the jump to North America, according to Fedotov.
Let's remember that Michkov is seen as the best Russian talent since Alexander Ovechkin. He set a KHL record this season for an 18-year-old forward, accumulating 20 points, including 9 goals, in 30 games.
