Many fans are worried to see that the star forward is still without a contract. The reporter explained why, in his opinion, a deal had not yet been signed.
Dreger mentioned that the Caufield camp was probably asking for too much money, which would have complicated negotiations with the Canadiens.
Unfortunately for the Canadiens, Kent Hughes is not really in a position to refuse Cole Caufield's demands. The forward is, without a doubt, the top scorer of the Canadiens and he will be a necessary player in the team's rebuild.
So, we will have to wait for the Caufield camp to accept less money or for Kent Hughes to decide to give in to their demands before a contract is signed. We can only hope that this will happen sooner rather than later.
At only 22 years old, Cole Caufield has scored 26 goals and added 10 assists in 46 games this season.
