In a 6-3 loss against a team filled with offensive talent, the Buffalo Sabres, the fifth overall pick made a good first impression, even if he wasn't dazzling on the ice either.
However, it must be said that this is quite normal, as the Austrian defenseman is not accustomed to a North American sized rink, which allows much less time for reflection and space on the ice. In short, despite his lack of experience, he managed to be responsible and we witnessed his above-average defensive skills.
In connection with this first meeting with the Canadiens, we were eager to hear the comments from the man himself, as he broke the silence with the media after the game.
This speaks volumes about the young man's maturity, as he asserts that he does not want to put too much pressure on himself by maintaining a normal game. It is very interesting to note that at 18, he was able to stick to his plan, managing to make a good impression while limiting mistakes.
It is very plausible to believe that, as the training camp progresses, he will gain more experience and will offer a higher level of play as he gains confidence.
We are eager to see what comes next for him with the Canadiens.
