Fans were eager to witness the first strides of David Reinbacher and Logan Mailloux.
While one left a good impression, being generally excellent with his responsible gameplay in Reinbacher, unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Mailloux.
In connection with this difficult performance from the 2021 first-round pick, a wave of criticism emerged on social media, where he is being harshly criticized by several fans.
As reported by our colleague William Nadeau from Habs and NHL, many netizens expressed their discontent about the CH prospect, even though he has only played one game with the organization.
I repeat, he has only played one game in the Canadiens uniform, the first in several months. Although I think that this wave of dismay is completely disproportionate, it should be noted that it is true that the 20-year-old young defender didn't have a good game.
He looked extremely bad in a harmless sequence where there was a potentially refused clearance, but since he wasn't hurried to retrieve the puck, the play continued and it led directly to an opposing goal a few seconds later.
Again, he is only 20 years old and there is still a tremendous amount of development to be done in his case. He has the assets to become an excellent player in the NHL, but he will need to progress by possibly spending one or two seasons in the American League.
However, seeing some fans already throwing in the towel after a first game in a Rookie Tournament is downright ridiculous.
As Carey Price would say, chill out!
