We have learned in the past few days that the veteran and former player of the Canadiens, Nate Thompson, announced his retirement during a podcast episode.

During his appearance on TSN, the 38-year-old forward discussed several interesting topics about his career and was also asked about his former teammate from the Tampa Bay Lightning, Martin St-Louis. The two men spent five seasons together, developing a strong relationship.

What caught the attention of Canadiens fans was the significant statement he made about the head coach of the organization, even affirming that he was one of his favorite teammates throughout his career.

"I know him very well! He texted me yesterday (Thursday) after I announced the news, and he sent me a kind message. The Canadiens are in very good hands with him. He was one of my favorite teammates. Having a guy like that on my side was something special. He's one of the best people I know." - Nate Thompson

It's very interesting to hear such comments coming from someone who was close to the Canadiens' coach for several years.

Not surprisingly, now that we are getting to know St-Louis better, Thompson reminds us of how exceptional of a human being he is, a great hockey man, and how highly regarded he is in the industry.
