The Colorado Avalanche are about to hit a huge home run
The Colorado Avalanche is about to make a significant home run as it has just been announced that promising Russian forward Nikolai Kovalenko will soon sign a contract with the organization. Kovalenko was selected in the sixth round of the 2018 draft.
For those who are not familiar with this young player, he is 23 years old and was the 11th leading scorer in the KHL last year, recording an impressive 21 goals and 54 points in 56 games.
In terms of points per game, he ranked third in the league, which is quite an impressive feat considering his age.
In a team like the Avalanche, which already has a lot of talent, Kovalenko will be able to adapt at his own pace to the North American hockey style. Furthermore, if his transition goes well, he could potentially follow in the footsteps of Artemi Panarin and Kirill Kaprizov and have a similar impact in a few years.
This late acquisition from Russia could become a major coup for the Colorado Avalanche.
