Despite this, and the fact that this Coyotes saga borders on the ridiculous and relentless, Gary Bettman still believes in the idea of hockey in this part of the country.
The commissioner even confirmed that the team will be relocated again, while the NHL would be exploring new options in Arizona. He greatly hopes that one of them will be successful in acquiring the Coyotes.
All signs thus indicate that the franchise could potentially have yet another life in the desert, even though this team has not generated any profit since its inception in the league in 1996.
At this stage, it's no longer a matter of incompetence on the part of the League's top authorities, but rather a deliberate decision to let the situation deteriorate in a place where people don't even support their professional team.
Currently, there is still talk of relocating the franchise to the city of Phoenix, where it all started for this organization.
It was a monumental failure the first time, so it's utterly incomprehensible that the NHL is still considering this option, instead of a much more financially profitable new alternative, like Houston, Utah, or even Quebec.
