Huge announcement from Gary Bettman and the NHL that will greatly please the fans
The good news from Gary Bettman regarding international competitions has been relatively scarce over the past decade.
Indeed, the last time NHL players participated in the Olympics was in 2014 when Carey Price and P.K. Subban helped Canada win gold.
There was also the World Championship in 2016, but after that, nothing. The NHL prevented players from returning, and then the pandemic hit.
The next Winter Olympics are in 2026, but before that, there will be another international competition.
"NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said on @NHL_On_TNT moments ago that the league will announce a 'best-on-best' in-season international tournament 'relatively soon.'
So, it will finally be our chance to see players like Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, and Nathan MacKinnon finally united on the same team.
We wondered if it would ever happen before the Penguins' captain announced his retirement. It looks like it will, and it's truly exciting!
