Huge surprise in the upcoming draft? CH fans dream of seeing such a scenario come true
As the draft approaches, many journalists reveal their Mock Draft for the upcoming June 28th. While the vast majority have reached a consensus that the first four picks would be Connor Bedard, Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson, and Will Smith, this does not seem to be the case for former NHL scout Grant McCagg.
According to him, Slovakian center player Dalibor Dvorsky is the third player with the most promising potential of the 2023 crop. However, this is far from the only surprise in his ranking. Indeed, according to McCagg, Ryan Leonard would deserve to be the 4th pick, while forwards Leo Carlsson and Will Smith would respectively be drafted 7th and 8th.
This is certainly the most controversial list we have seen in recent weeks as Leo Carlsson and Will Smith are projected by many experts as safe picks in the top-5 of the next draft.
Here is Grant McCagg's top-10 :
1 Connor Bedard
2 Adam Fantilli
3 Dalibor Dvorsky
4 Ryan Leonard
5 Matvei Michkov
6 David Reinbacher
7 Leo Carlsson
8 Will Smith
9 Gabriel Perreault
10 Daniil But Let's just say that if the draft were to go as Grant McCagg predicts, the fans of the Canadiens would be thrilled. Kent Hughes would have the opportunity to get a leading center in Leo Carlsson or Will Smith. In addition, the Russian phenomenon Matvei Michkov would also be available at the 5th spot, which would mean that three of the top five players in the draft would be available for the Tricolore to pick.
Do you really believe that Leo Carlsson and Will Smith will slip out of the top-5?
