For a few days now, there have been many rumors regarding Kent Hughes' intentions for the upcoming draft, as he is reportedly looking to move up a few spots in order to land Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson, or even Will Smith.
Some rumors have suggested that the General Manager of the Canadiens had contacted his counterpart from the San Jose Sharks, Mike Grier, in an attempt to acquire the 4th overall pick. However, Pierre LeBrun recently confirmed this information, stirring even more interest around a potential transaction.
In addition to the phone call to the San Jose Sharks, Kent Hughes also had discussions with the Anaheim Ducks regarding the second overall pick. This information greatly demonstrates the GM's willingness to hit a home run by the draft, which will take place on June 28th.
Details regarding potential offers made by the Canadiens' General Manager are not yet known, but it is speculated that players like Logan Mailloux could be involved, as well as the Canadiens' 5th and 31st overall picks. Talks continue to evolve, and fans are eagerly waiting to see if these negotiations will eventually come to fruition.
