Huge surprise on the NHL waiver: the Canadiens have the opportunity to offer a goaltender to the Oilers
It's chaos in Edmonton since the start of the season, and Ken Holland is starting to feel the heat.
How a team with so much talent can have only two wins after 12 games is simply incomprehensible.
The problem is that the team isn't scoring as much as usual, while giving up more goals. The issue seems to have been pinpointed by the organization as Jack Campbell is heading to waivers.
Sitting comfortably on a $25 million contract ending in 2027, Campbell is unlikely to be claimed, barring a huge surprise. He will have to report to the American Hockey League.
"Goaltender Jack Campbell has been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment. "
- Edmonton Oilers
This is the perfect opportunity for Kent Hughes to offer the services of Cayden Primeau or Jake Allen, as the Oilers will have a $5 million cap space and a significant gap to fill. Regardless of which goaltender is acquired by the team, they will have a real chance to become the number one goaltender.
