The situation of Alexis Lafrenière has been generating a lot of ink for several months, as his name has been circulating in numerous potential trade rumors since last year.

The below-par start to his career, especially for a former first overall pick with a very promising future, fuels the rumor mill. The New York Rangers may be interested in trading their player for immediate help.

The name of the Montreal Canadiens has obviously been mentioned, but it's not the only Canadian team that would be on the lookout for the file.

Indeed, journalist Rick Dhaliwal from The Athletic, who covers the activities of the Canucks, claimed that Vancouver is working hard to try and acquire the Quebec forward.

It's easy to believe that his former agent, Emilie Castonguay, who serves as assistant GM there, may have something to do with this.

The Canucks have been actively trying to perform a reset with their lineup since last year, and Lafrenière could become a key element for the future of this team.

A change of scenery could be greatly beneficial to him and with this Western formation, Lafrenière is likely to be used among the top-6 in the attack.

At the age of 21, he has compiled a record of 16 goals and 39 points in 81 games, in his third professional season. Unfortunately, it's his total of 0 points in seven playoff matches that is particularly noteworthy.
