It is now official for Trevor Zegras and the Montreal Canadiens: the star forward is indeed on the market
Let's be honest, who wouldn't want to see a player of Trevor Zegras' caliber land in Montreal? As Tony Marinaro aptly puts it, only one team out of 32 wins the Stanley Cup each year. Montreal needs some excitement, and Zegras would certainly bring that.
Not only would he bring great entertainment, but he is also a tremendous hockey player with very high potential, not to mention being the best friend of Cole Caufield.
In short, rumors have been circulating for some time that he might be available, and now it has been outright confirmed by insider Frank Seravalli. Pat Verbeek is trying to trade him.
"The Ducks and Trevor Zegras' offseason contract talks got 'nasty' at times, and he is available."
- Frank Seravalli
Not only were the negotiations not easy, but there is a surplus of attacking talent among the Ducks. Several good young players are already there, and the addition of Cutter Gauthier has further solidified the lineup.
According to journalist Shayna Goldman, the Canadiens are at the top of the list to acquire him. What is most reassuring about this news is that she has absolutely no bias or interest in the Canadiens.
Stay tuned, but Kent Hughes has more than enough means to pay to acquire this player from the Ducks.
