A few days ago, Kevin Weekes suggested that Patrick Roy might be an interesting candidate to succeed Gerard Gallant as head coach of the New York Rangers.

Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman notably discussed the subject in their podcast 32 Thoughts. Marek questioned the possibility of seeing Chris Drury's former teammate, Patrick Roy, leading the Rangers.

Subsequently, Elliotte Friedman added that the head coach of the Remparts has the required personality to manage a large market like that of New York.

"Marek on 32TP is wondering about Chris Drury's former teammate for the Rangers' head coach position, Patrick Roy. Friedman says it wouldn't surprise him, he has the personality to handle this market. He would be surprised if Roy at least did not consider it if he was approached."

Chris Drury was Patrick Roy's teammate for four seasons with the Colorado Avalanche. There is no doubt that the two men know each other quite well, which could play in Patrick Roy's favor.

The main person concerned has not mentioned whether he wished to return to the NHL, but if the opportunity to coach a team as talented as the Rangers presented itself, he would have no choice but to give it serious consideration.
