In a recent interview with Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek of Sportsnet, Jesperi Kotkaniemi discussed several important topics about his journey in the NHL, including his stint with the Montreal Canadiens.
The third overall pick in 2018 revealed that the media greatly affected him and that he read everything that was said about him, which particularly harmed him during his second season in the professional league.
However, when discussing the media, Kotkaniemi blatantly called out his former teammate and fellow Finn, Joel Armia, mentioning that the latter hated the media.
"Jesperi Kotkaniemi admits he read a little too much of what the media was saying and it was affecting him. He adds that Joel Armia helped him with that because he hates all media lol, he told him to ignore them." - Via NHL Watcher
Possibly unintentionally, KK's clumsy statement may create an awkward situation for Armia next year, knowing that he doesn't like Montreal's media presence.
