Last minute announcement from the Montreal Canadiens: We now know who the prospects participating in the rookie camp are
Proof that the Montreal Canadiens' season is fast approaching, the organization has just unveiled the list of prospects who will participate in the rookie camp starting Wednesday, September 13th.
In total, fifteen forwards, nine defensemen, and three goaltenders will don the Tricolor uniform during the matches against the Buffalo Sabres (September 15 - 7 PM), the Boston Bruins (September 16 - 3:30 PM), and the Philadelphia Flyers (September 18 - 1:30 PM).
This will undoubtedly be an excellent opportunity to witness the progress made by our young players over the last year, as 17 of the 27 players present were drafted by the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge.
Here is the official list of prospects who will participate in the rookie camp:
Forwards: Owen Beck, Joshua Roy, Jared Davidson, Sean Farrell, Cédrick Guindon, Emil Heineman, Riley Kidney, Riley McKay, Filip Mesar, Jan Mysak, Jakov Novak, Xavier Simoneau, Ty Smilanic, Florian Xhekaj, Isaac Dufort
Defensemen: Logan Mailloux, David Reinbacher, Jayden Struble, Miguël Tourigny, William Trudeau, John Parker-Jones, Stanislav Demin, Noah Laaouan, Christopher Ortiz
Goaltenders: Jakub Dobes, Quentin Miller, Jan Spunar Note that three players have also received a professional tryout, namely forward Isaac Dufort, defenseman Stanislav Demin, and goaltender Jan Spunar.
The Quebec left winger, now 20 years old, played the last season with the Drakkar de Baie-Comeau in the QMJHL, accumulating a total of 21 goals and 20 assists (41 points) in 61 matches.
As for defenseman Stanislav Demin, he played with Merrimack College in the NCAA in 2022-2023, collecting a total of 16 points in 37 games. The former fourth-round pick of the Vegas Golden Knights has an imposing frame at 6'2" and 190 pounds.
Finally, the young 19-year-old goaltender, Jan Spunar, played his first season in the junior ranks last year, recording a record of 17 wins, 7 losses, and 3 overtime defeats with the Portland Winterhawks. He also maintained a goals-against average of 2.61 and a save percentage of 0.908.
