Many Montreal fans were eager to see if the American defenseman would be able to reproduce his excellent performances this season, as he began his second year with Boston University over the weekend. Clearly, Hutson picked up right where he left off last year with an incredible opening match.
Indeed, the Canadiens' prospect finished the game with an impressive total of 36 minutes played, while touching a record number of 269 pucks during the game. Furthermore, known for his offensive abilities, #20 did not disappoint by scoring the overtime winning goal. A performance that earned him the title of Player of the Week in the Hockey East division.
Wow! It's so impressive to see this young player's progression. We'd bet there are 31 NHL general managers who deeply regret not drafting him because of his small stature right now.
Clearly, the Canadiens' rookie has immense potential, and it will be very interesting to follow his performances throughout the season. It wouldn't be surprising to see him make the jump to the professional ranks very soon, as he's completely dominating at the collegiate level.
One thing's for sure, the Canadiens have found an exceptional talent, and we're all eagerly awaiting to see him don the Blue-White-Red jersey. In your opinion, does Lane Hutson have the skills to become one of the best offensive defensemen in the NHL? Personally, we believe he does! A defensive pairing of David Reinbacher and him could give the Habs an extraordinary defensive brigade in a few years.
