Last-minute signing: An agreement of over 50 million dollars has just been announced between the Lightning and forward Brandon Hagel
In the last few minutes, forward Brandon Hagel has signed a massive contract extension worth 52 million dollars for the next eight seasons (6.25M per year) with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Wow! That's huge!
Acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks at the trade deadline in 2022, the forward had a challenging start, only collecting 13 points in his first 45 games with the Lightning. However, the 24-year-old left winger bounced back this season with an impressive tally of 30 goals and 34 assists (64 points) in 81 games.
Unusual fact: Brandon Hagel had participated in the Montreal Canadiens' training camp in 2018 during Marc Bergevin's era. The Canadiens' management eventually released the forward before the start of the season, missing the opportunity to sign a very talented player.
Hailing from Saskatoon, the 6'2" tall and 180-pound heavy forward has scored 64 goals and 68 assists (132 points) in 211 games with the Chicago Blackhawks and the Tampa Bay Lightning since his arrival in the NHL.
