A trade is expected with the Canadiens: A final decision has just been announced regarding Casey DeSmith's future in Montreal
There's only one issue left for Kent Hughes to handle before the start of training camp: the logjam at the goaltender position.
Even though the general manager mentioned in his most recent press briefing that he would evaluate all possible options regarding a potential trade involving one of his goalies, it seems he has made a final decision.
Given that the Habs already have several goaltenders under contract for the 2023-2024 season, it would be quite surprising if Kent Hughes wanted to keep three goalies in the Montreal lineup.
Moreover, according to information reported by the Twitter account Incarcerated Bob, it is indeed Casey DeSmith who will be traded soon.
Things are likely to be quiet in the NHL until next month. However, the Canadiens are still actively shopping DeSmith. Maybe they're waiting for an injury to occur in training camp or at the start of the regular season.- Incarcerated Bob
Speculations about the possibility of Jake Allen being traded instead are likely to fade as Casey DeSmith's days in Montreal seem numbered. Do you believe this is the right decision?
It should be noted that Kent Hughes also mentioned he didn't want to send the 29-year-old goalie to waivers or the AHL. So, we can likely expect a trade to be concluded very soon.
This will be a story to watch closely in the coming weeks!
