The recent transaction of the Montreal Canadiens has caused quite a stir since its announcement.

Although it was an excellent move by Kent Hughes, as he managed to trade two unwanted contracts in Mike Hoffman and Rem Pitlick, the return of Jeff Petry has raised more than a few eyebrows.

Since this trade, we were eager to hear the opinions of the CH players about Petry's return, who left the team after a roller-coaster season both on the ice and personally.

Now we finally have answers, as David Savard and Kaiden Guhle have just reacted to this transaction.

Here's Kaiden Guhle's reaction:

"I really didn't expect it. [...] I'm happy to see him again. But who knows what will happen. I try not to think about it. He's a member of the Montreal Canadiens for now."

- Kaiden Guhle

And that of David Savard:

"We're all in the same boat. We don't know if anything else is going to come from this trade.

At the same time, we lost [Joel] Edmundson too, so if he starts the year with us, I think it's a good veteran presence. It definitely ended a bit weird, but sometimes, a fresh start there and coming back here, the vision will be different."

- David Savard

As we can perceive more in the words of the Quebec defenseman, even the players don't know what will really happen with Petry, touching on the possibility of another transaction.

Will he be in the starting lineup next October? According to number 58, if Petry is still in Montreal, he would fill the spot left vacant by Joel Edmundson during the summer.

We are eager to know what comes next in this story, as the Canadiens' GM has still not met with the media about this significant trade from last Sunday.
