The Montreal Canadiens have just announced that defenseman Mike Matheson will replace Joel Edmundson as assistant captain this season.
Jeff Petry was traded for Matheson last year, and since then, Matheson has become a vital part of Montreal's defense, averaging over 24 minutes of play each night.
Congratulations Mike!
