Major: Cayden Primeau on his way out of Montreal? Kent Hughes takes a step in that direction
A few months ago, Kent Hughes and the Canadiens had decisions to make regarding several prospects they needed to sign to avoid losing them.
Unfortunately, goaltender Joe Vrbetic did not receive a qualifying offer and became an unrestricted free agent. Since then, something significant has happened in the organization, as Kevin Poulin announced his retirement, and Cayden Primeau did not return to the Rocket.
Kent Hughes has been clear that he doesn't want to risk losing Primeau to waivers for nothing, so he has just signed Vrbetic.
This move says a lot about Primeau's future, which certainly won't be in Laval. Is Kent Hughes about to trade him? It seems likely, as he is positioning the pieces on his chessboard accordingly.
More details to come.
