Major: Cole Caufield is writing the history of the NHL
Cole Caufield is capable of scoring goals from anywhere, we know that, but his ability to score goals in the most crucial moments is starting to become legendary.
The word is far from too strong, as the small forward already has three game-winning goals in overtime this year, bringing his career total to seven.
He is the one who achieved the feat of the fastest five overtime goals in history, then six, and now seven. At this point, he is not just putting his name in history, he is writing it.
With his goal against the Red Wings in overtime, he now surpasses Frank Finnigan, who achieved the feat in 222 games. However, Caufield has only played 136 games in his career. It's not just breaking the record, it's shattering it outright.
With five goals in total, including three in overtime and one on the power play, all that's left is for him to find his touch at 5-on-5, and he will certainly reach a very interesting goal total.
