Major Trade: Jeff Petry makes a return to Montreal in a three-team trade
A trade of great magnitude involving three teams, namely the Montreal Canadiens, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the San Jose Sharks, has just occurred
Kent Hughes has just completed a major trade!
See the official announcement from the Montreal Canadiens:
The Canadiens acquire Jeff Petry, Casey DeSmith, Nathan Légaré, and the Penguins' second-round pick in 2025 in exchange for Mike Hoffman and Rem Pitlick.
Montreal Canadiens Wow! Note that the Penguins are retaining 25% of Petry's salary in the trade. So, he is returning to Montreal, but at a discount.
At first glance, this seems to be an excellent transaction by Kent Hughes.
