Major development: Senators star player on the trade market
The Ottawa Senators' summer is shaping up to be quite eventful as new details have surfaced about a murky situation within the organization.
Indeed, we have just learned, through insider Elliotte Friedman, that a star player on the team is currently on the trade market.
The team's GM, Pierre Dorion, is currently testing interest in his recent acquisition from last year, Alex DeBrincat.
He has begun exploring different options for DeBrincat, as the sniper has specified to the Sens' upper management that he does not wish to agree with the organization before the franchise sale is finalized.
This is therefore a factor putting a lot of pressure on Dorion, as the 24-year-old forward will become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and based on his current contract, Ottawa will have to qualify him for $9M not to lose his rights at the opening of the free agent market.
With the draft approaching, this will be a very interesting case to follow.
