Over the past few days, many experts have mentioned that Kent Hughes is particularly fond of American forward Ryan Leonard and Austrian defenseman David Reinbacher, and it would not be surprising if the organization sets its sights on one of these two players on the upcoming June 28th.
However, Alexandre Gascon from Radio-Canada has just dropped a bombshell about the Canadiens' intentions for the next draft. Indeed, according to a well-informed source on the subject, the general manager of the Tricolore is currently being very aggressive to get hold of the 4th pick held by the San Jose Sharks.

We know that Kent Hughes has a particular relationship with forward Will Smith, as they have known each other for many years. Beyond his personal relationship with the young prospect, there is no doubt that his skills make him an outstanding hockey player. The forward is seen as one of the top prospects this year, who undoubtedly has a promising potential.
Will Smith had an amazing season, accumulating an impressive total of 51 goals and 76 assists in 60 matches with the American development program. He also scored 20 points in just 7 matches with the United States at the last U18 World Championship, thus helping his team to win the gold medal.
Imagine if the Canadiens were able to get hold of the 4th overall pick to select the 18-year-old. The Tricolore could finally have two excellent center players in Nick Suzuki and Will Smith, and this for many years to come.
