Tony Marinaro has unveiled major information concerning Cole Caufield's contract situation. Indeed, he has just confirmed that negotiations between Kent Hughes and Pat Brisson are progressing well and that a contract of 7 or 8 years would be the option considered by both parties.

"Update on Cole Caufield's contract:

Yesterday, I reported that I heard that Cole Caufield's new contract with the Canadiens would NOT be higher than Nick Suzuki's cap of $7.875 million.

Today: I have just been informed that the talks are progressing - all signs point to a contract of 7 or 8 years." -Tony Marinaro

This is certainly very encouraging news for Canadiens fans! Moreover, according to Tony Marinaro's source, the Canadiens would not want to offer a more lucrative contract than the one given to Nick Suzuki before the start of the 2021-2022 season.

So can we expect a contract of 7 or 8 years with a value close to $7.875 million for Cole Caufield as well?

The Canadiens forward has scored 26 goals and 10 assists in 46 games this season. Cole Caufield has notably made rapid progress since the arrival of Martin St. Louis, having scored 48 goals in 83 games.

An announcement seems increasingly imminent in this case!
