Major trade involving Sean Monahan: The center could be joining his former Canadiens teammate, Jonathan Drouin
With the trade deadline approaching on March 8, the name circulating the most for the Canadiens is Sean Monahan. Jake Allen's name is certainly also on everyone's lips, but I hope this transaction doesn't go all the way to March 8.
Monahan is undoubtedly one of the most crucial forwards for the Habs this season. His contribution to a team is significant when he's healthy.
We're not just talking about points here, but all the little things he does well, like faceoffs and leadership.
Pierre LeBrun and Chris Johnson have given their opinion on the matter, regarding which team #91 for the Habs could play for at the end of the season. According to Johnson, the Jets could be interested.
According to LeBrun, Monahan could end up with the Avalanche. There is a history of trades between the two teams, and since their Stanley Cup win, they haven't replaced Nazem Kadri at center.
Jonathan Drouin could thus welcome another of his former teammates. Imagine Monahan on the power play with MacKinnon, Makar, Rantanen, and Drouin. It would certainly spark some excitement!
