Kent Hughes mentioned at the beginning of the season that the three-goalie situation wouldn't last. According to his words, he wanted to resolve this matter before Christmas.

However, a recent statement from him suggested that it might take longer, as he said verbatim, 'Don't try to fix what isn't broken.' However, the three-goalie system was working well, so why change the strategy?

The issue has never been with the goalies since the start of the year, but it must be admitted that Samuel Montembeault has stood out a bit more than the other two. It's time for this situation to be resolved, and for him to finally be entrusted with the role of the number 1 goaltender.

According to Raphaël Doucet, it seems to be on the verge of being resolved.

Raph Doucet spoke to a source well-versed in the Canadiens' goaltending situation, and this source suggests that 'the end of the three-goalie system is coming soon.

"My source expects 'a trade, not waivers.' A matter to follow in the coming days/weeks." - Raphaël Doucet

So, we can expect Jake Allen or Cayden Primeau to leave the Canadiens by Christmas. Let's say it will be a nice issue resolved.
